The WIlliams Institute Policy Circle invites you to a reception and panel discussion titled A Historic Summer for Same-Sex Marriage: What does it mean? Who's marrying? And Why?. This panel will address the summer's historic developments regarding same-sex marriage, including the extension of marriage to all same-sex couples in California and to out-of-state couples in Massachusetts. The panel will provide an overview of the legal implications of these developments, including demographics on who's marrying, why, and what benefits are and are not incidental within marriage.
Panelists will include: Brad Sears, Executive Director of the Williams Institute; Nan Hunter, Legal Scholarship Director of the Williams Institute and Georgetown University Law Professor; M.V. Lee Badgett, Research Director of the Williams Institute and Associate Professor at the University of Massachusetts; and Susan Silber, Silber, Perlman, Sigman, & Tilev, P.A..
